Are you excited about summer? Around here summers are for family swimming and grilling so I am always on the hunt for barbecue ideas Every weekend ends with me at the grill while the kids tire themselves out in the pool.
My kids don’t do well without the rigid schedule of the school day. They get cabin fever and fight — then fight some more. Since my husband and I both work from home, making sure Pork Chop and Pea get plenty of exercise is a priority. The summer heat gets pretty intense here. The humidity and heat make the mid-day intolerable.
We play soccer and go to the park during the school year quite a bit. However, the park can get torturous in July and August. I am so thankful to have a pool. Even so, it gets so hot towards the end of summer that the kids put a sprinkler next to the pool and turn it on. They call it an “air conditioner” because the water from the tap is cooler than the pool water!
We swim, laugh, relax, and swat at mosquitoes for hours. It keeps the house quiet enough for Daddy to get some work done, and lets us stay active in the heat. It’s also the perfect way for me to cook dinner without making the house hot.
