This year I am adding a bit more green to my Thanksgiving menu with our friends. Now don’t get me wrong. I absolutely adore the carb-fest that is Thanksgiving Dinner but it can be too much.
I mentioned the other day that I start to get serious about working out and eating well every year after Halloween. It’s a habit I share with one of my closest friends.
In fact, until she moved to the other side of town (I’m still mad) she was my gym partner. It’s great to have close friends that get your weird workout addiction and food preferences.
She’s taught me a lot about healthier choices. We get together and though our friends and guests don’t always like our low carb choices, we enjoy them together.
I am sharing one of our favorites today. We normally bake this but since I want to be able to make it while a turkey, casseroles, and assorted Thanksgiving foodstuffs are hogging up the oven, I plan to grill it this Thanksgiving.
Thanks to Walmart I was able to find some tasty ingredients to add to my menu!
This year I am going to put our grill (and my husband, sister, and brother in law) to work! I am always exhausted on Thanksgiving while everyone else lounges around. They can lounge by the grill eating Hillshire Farm® Lit’l Smokies® and cheese while my sides cook 🙂
Bacon Wrapped Asparagus
Wright Brand® Bacon (Hickory Smoked)
Cut the Wright Brand® Bacon Hickory Smoked in half.
Cut the ends off of the asparagus.
Place three asparagus on a piece of Wright Brand® Bacon Hickory Smoked.
Wrap the bacon around the asparagus and secure with the skewer. Pierce the skewer through each piece of asparagus to make grilling easier. Wrap all the asparagus.
Hand the bundled asparagus to your designated helper with a plate a Hillshire Farm® Lit’l Smokies® and cubes. I find that giving others a little snack prevents complaints!
Have your helper lay each bundle on the grill and grill until cooked.
It’s easy and perfect with turkey–or steak, chicken, fish!
I love Wright Brand® Bacon Hickory Smoked with this side dish because it isn’t too thin and holds up well. Bacon makes everything better, doesn’t it?
