I joined a gym and my Strawberry Banana Protein Smoothie Recipe

When I decided on the new site name, I excitedly told a close friend of mine. She gave me her normal deadpan glare and said “You don’t even go to the gym. I’m going to call you out on your blog.”

Don’t get me wrong. As I said in my name change announcement, my days are normally filled with exercise, crafts, and cleaning. I just did all my workouts at home with my treadmill and other home equipment. When the children were younger and I was still working away from the home, I had no choice but to customize my exercise regimen to what would work best for me at that time. (If you want to see how I fit in workouts when I could not go to a gym click here.)

But my kids are both in school now and I do have time to go to a gym. I’ve also outgrown my old workouts.

So right before my rebranding and domain change, I signed up at LA Fitness (because it is so close to my house that I can’t claim distance as an excuse not to go) and even went and worked out.

If you see me walking funny…

I tried to bench press with a bar for the first time.  So I can’t lift my arms today.

I also tried to do squats with the bar–why I can’t walk today.

And then my friend and generous workout partner had me do walking lunges with a weight plate.  I tried to cheat when she went to put her own weight away but she caught me and made me start over.

So there it is, the “Gym” part of my website.

I don’t have a goal of entering a fitness competition.  I don’t have plans to run a marathon.  (But I do have a goal of running a 15k in March!) I don’t have a certain number of pounds I want to lose.

I want to be as healthy and fit as possible because I feel better when I am in shape.

Exercise is half of it.

The other half is the food.

To lose weight you have to eat the right food, regularly.

My first step in this aspect is to incorporate breakfast.  For people like me that don’t like to eat breakfast and don’t have much time for breakfast, the smoothie is the easiest option.

Blend it together and enjoy!

Breakfast Smoothie

Yes, that is a beer mug!

What is your favorite quick and healthy breakfast option?

    1. Thanks! I am the same way actually. I found that the best way to control my diet is to work out, because once I worked my butt off at the gym I don’t want to ruin it with yummy bad food.

    1. Lol! I am the exact opposite. I was the kid in high school that used to eat ice cream outside in the winter so that might inside temperature would match my outside temperature and I wouldn’t feel as cold.
