You can give or do things to help a brand-new mom out. It can be as simple as letting her take a nap while you watch the baby. Trust me, there’s a great chance that a nap is at the top of her wish list.
Best Gifts for First-Time Moms
Let’s face it, all new moms are exhausted. Motherhood can be daunting for a first-time mom.
There are all sorts of fears and insecurities that bubble to the top of your mind when faced with such a huge responsibility.
Being a new mom can be scary. You are hit with the fact that you are responsible for a whole other person who literally relies on you to keep it alive. I remember poking my newborn several times a day to make sure he was still breathing! (Okay, I did the same thing with my daughter when she came along.)
What Are the Best Gifts for First-Time Moms?
The best gifts for first-time moms are items that help them rest, recover, and adjust to life with a newborn. Thoughtful gifts like sleep masks, memory books, nursing accessories, comfortable mugs for late-night feedings, and recovery items can make the early months of motherhood a little easier.
Photo Memory Book for Baby’s First Year
I regret not filling out my son’s baby book! This gift would have been perfect for me. If my sister EVER has a baby I plan to snag a few pics from her social media (and take a bunch myself) and save her time while giving her a keepsake. This photo book would be perfect to fill with pictures of mom and baby!

Eleven years ago (then again year later when my daughter was born), I was recovering from a c-section while feeling like an inept parent. If you’re looking for more ideas specifically for recovery, check out my C-section recovery gift basket guide.
I remember thinking about health class in high school. We had to care for fake babies to prepare us for adulthood! That project when we carried around plastic baby dolls and pretended to parent may have resulted in an easy A but definitely did not prepare me for motherhood or surgery recovery.
Nursing Bracelet for Breastfeeding Moms
If she is breastfeeding, this simple yet elegant nursing bracelet would make a great gift. It’s both functional and pretty.
Mother’s Milk Tea for Nursing Support
When I was a new mom, I remember drinking lots and lots of Mother’s Milk Tea! My every waking thought was on my milk supply. After my babies weaned, the tea was replaced with my favorite coffee Tully’s French Roast.
Baby Washcloth Gift Set
This baby washcloth set is gorgeous and gender neutral. I might be biased because this was the same color scheme I chose for both of my kids. It would be a great baby shower gift or a new mom gift!
These healing candles are perfect reminders for her to take some time for herself and they smell divine.
New Mom Log Book
This baby log book will also help you remember the answers to common new mom questions! (Mom Brain is real, folks.) Years later it will be a keepsake that will bring those new baby memories flooding back. A daily log book isn’t a memory book per se. It is a literal log where you write down when you last fed the baby, last changed him or her, and keep track of their bowel movements. It seemed weird to me before I had my kids but trust me, moms find this super helpful.
