The one gift this past Christmas that had me squealing with joy and seeing rainbows and glittery clouds was a pot with a plug. I could almost feel the impending dread of dinner time during soccer season fading away into the distance. Really. I was that happy. I finally had an Instant Pot.
What is an Instant Pot? For those of you who haven’t seen all the chatter about it, it is simply an electric pressure cooker. It was the hottest gift this past Christmas.
Many of you probably got an Instapot for Christmas. Many of you, like me, were probably confused and slightly terrified over using it. The Instant Pot is changing dinner for many families. Especially healthy and money conscious families with active kids and a packed schedule.
Times are busy and no one has time to stand in a kitchen and cook all day. The Instant Pot is becoming a staple in the kitchen because it is making homemade cooking a whole lot easier.

Instant Pots can be found cheap – They are a huge timesaver. The initial investment is well worth it! Wondering where to get an Instant Pot? Amazon has them on sale quite frequently! Keep a look out! I don’t like paying full price for anything, so if I can find it on sale, even better.
Instant Pots cook so quickly – The more I used my Instant Pot and read up on how it works the more I love it. Instapots are quick, but they are not as quick as people say. Keep in mind it takes time for the Instapot to reach its optimum temperature. While it’s fast, keep in mind that it needs to heat up! I cooked a sausage and red beans recipe in under an hour–and the beans were dry. D R Y.
Instant Pots can literally make anything – I think one of the appeals to the Instapot is that they can cook anything. I have seen friends make anything from eggs to applesauce in their IP! It amazes me how much faster it can be to cook things like this in an IP rather than on the stove.
Instant Pots can steam like no other – I have been wanting to stop using the microwave as much for steaming vegetables. I have noticed the Instant Pot is fabulous for steaming. You can steam veggies quickly.
Meat is awesome in the Instant Pot – Most people are looking to make cooking their meat a little faster. I do have to say that the Instapot can cook meat quite quickly. Sometimes I wait too long to consider what I will make for dinner and the Instapot has saved me many times! The best thing about the IP is that you can go from frozen to cooked in just a matter of time. For a mom, that is incredible!
Not only that but it can make cheaper cuts of meat tender and melt in your mouth delicious.
Cooking healthier is so much easier – Convenience trumps “healthy” when you’re a mom rushing to get every to practice and fed. One thing I have noticed with my IP is that cooking healthier is so-much-easier. Making things like cauliflower rice, spaghetti squash, and even bone broth can easily be made in the IP!
