My five year old daughter is still fascinated by Disney’s Frozen movie. We watch the movie when she isn’t feeling well (and when she is). Recently, she was under the weather. One big concern for me when she isn’t feeling well is hydration and easily giving her medicines when she is already cranky.
That is where my easy popsicle recipes come into play.
This time I made one that was specifically for rehydration but is reminiscent of Pea’s favorite movie.
I do not regularly give my children gatorade or powerade because of the sugar content and because they are meant for rehydration and NOT as a casual kid’s drink.
When they are ill or we are at Disney sweating in the heat, I make an exception to my rule.
I water it down though…
which gave me this great idea for an easy popsicle recipe.
Easy Popsicle Recipe for Frozen Popsicles
All you need:
Blue and Purple Electrolyte Sports Drinks
Very cold water
Popsicle MoldShallow plastic container
Two plastic baggies
Easy directions
Pour blue drink into a shallow plastic container until it is about an inch in depth.
Pour purple drink into a shallow plastic container until it is an inch deep.
Freeze.
When it is frozen, place the sheet of blue ice into a ziploc bag and the sheet of purple ice into a different ziploc bag.
Bang each plastic bag against the table until the sheet of ice is broken into pieces.
Fill the popsicle mold wells up with a mix of both colors.
Fill the wells with very cold water.
Put the tops on the popsicle mold and freeze completely.
Pea was delighted to have Frozen popsicles and I was happy that she was getting in fluids after a fever. The water was a perfect complement to the sweetness of the powerade.
I did want more pronounced “fractals” so I am still working on another variation of a “Frozen” Popsicle. But, my daughter really loves these popsicles and my son loves that they aren’t pink!

I’m going to make these this summer but substitute the Gatorade for pedialyte. We recently moved from south Florida to Texas and my kids always drink pedialyte instead of sports drink…no sugar mom win. Lol

All it takes around here is to mention Frozen or Elsa and my daughter is immediately on board. 🙂

What a great way to motivate your daughter to increase fluids! Frozen has tickled the imaginations of so many children! I just made Frozen birthday cookies this week for a small friend turning 5. A little blue icing and some snowflake sprinkles and she was thrilled. 🙂 I am going to send a link for these popsicles to her mom!

I’m pretty sure anything that you called “Frozen” would have been a hit, if your daughter is anything like mine, lol! Clever way to get more fluids into her!
