After you have a baby, it’s safe to say that your body will never be the same again. Some moms are even blessed with a rocking muffin top after their kids are born. (I may or may not have had issues with my muffin top before I even had kids.) It sucks.
I work out as regularly as my priorities allow. That is, I work out consistently for about 7 months out of the year. When my kids get sick or life gets crazy (i.e. the entire months of November and December) the gym gets moved down the priority list.
Unfortunately, my muffin top magically rises like yeast rolls in a warm room whenever I stop working out.
That’s life for a carb loving woman pushing forty. But–that doesn’t mean I am stuck with it! Here are some things I am re-implementing in my life to cure me of my “dunlap.” (For those who don’t know what that is it’s when “your belly has done lapped over your pants.”)
#1. Drink lots of water—Any time you want to get rid of fat naturally, drink water. Water helps to flush out your system and get rid of unwanted toxins.
#2. Limit your portions- It’s always easier said than done, but eating less is one way to make that muffin top disappear naturally.
#3. Regular exercise- To be honest, the muffin top might disappear a little with regular exercise. Give it all you have a couple of times a week at the gym.
#4. Work those abs- The muffin top is centered on the abs, make sure you are getting a good ab workout in a few times a week while you are at the gym. None of those weird products you can buy on television are going to give you abs naturally. You have to work at it!
#5. Juice it up- If you are having a hard time getting in those vegetables, it’s time to juice it up. I’m not suggesting you go for an all juice diet, but you can certainly make yourself a nice veggie smoothie once a day. Your body could really use the extra nutrients.
#6. Dance it out- If you are not a person who likes to naturally workout, consider giving dance a try. A workout dance is way different than any other dancing out there. You’ll work all parts of your body and especially the muffin top area.
#7. Avoid sugar – When you eat a lot of sugar, it seems to find its way to the center of your body. If you want to lose that muffin top naturally, avoid all of the sugar you can.
Losing the muffin top is a combination of hard work and prevention. You’ll want to avoid certain foods to help prevent the muffin top, but you’ll also want to work hard to get rid of it. Don’t be too hard on yourself if you can’t seem to get rid of the muffin top right away moms. After all, you grew babies in the center of that muffin top and that’s quite the accomplishment. What tips do you have for naturally getting rid of a muffin top?

Thanks for the tips. I struggle with drinking lots of water and need to work harder at that. I started doing some basic yoga this past week and my stomach is feeling it. Obviously, I need to workout more often. I guess I got settled into my busy routine that I neglected to add working out to it for way too long.

Understandable! I love working out but got busy after Halloween and haven’t gone back. It’s easy to settle into not working out lol. It will get easier as you go.
I am horrible at yoga. I get so bored!

Nice tips! I find the easiest way for me to tone my stomach muscles is doing sprints. It doesn’t take long, but I get a great workout in and always notice a difference with my abs the next day.

Yes! I incorporate a lot of interval training into my workouts. I need to share them on the blog. Thanks!
