My little girl batted her eyes and asked me why we haven’t made DIY window clings in a long time. I figured that they were now getting too old to enjoy that kind of thing. We used to make homemade puffy paint window clings all the time.
I’m so glad I was wrong. I want time to slow down and bring my preschoolers back. Note that I didn’t say babies or toddlers lol.
These window clings are ridiculously easy to make.

Materials:
- Gallon Size Ziplock Bag
- Butterfly Coloring Page or Drawn Picture
- Puffy/Fabric Paint in assorted colors
Directions:
Print or or draw your butterfly picture.
Place your picture inside the gallon size zip bag.
Squirt the puffy paint onto the plastic bag. This is a great craft for kids because the thicker the paint, the easier it is to pull off the bag.
I figured out something this time around. If you use glow in the dark puffy paint, it is harder to remove off of a window when you are done.
Draw some flowers and grass with the puffy paint on the ziplock bag.
Make sure that the paint doesn’t pull away from the nearby colors as it dries. Another little trick that I do that seems to work is to go over the areas that look thin with clear elmers glue.
Let dry.
Once completely dry, gently peel from the plastic bag and place on window.
We put ours on an empty picture frame because I can’t get a clear picture when they are on our window!
It’s that easy!
