Last week was rough. We started school back up around here. I’m excited for the kids to be back in school, but now I need to be on top of my game. I need to be quicker, smarter, and more reactive when it comes to managing our daily schedules. Those lazy summer days are fading into the past. Fall brings with it all the crazy mornings, after school activities, youth sports like soccer, and homework!
How to handle the chaos of the first week of school
Stay fueled
When my kids or myself are headed out the door in the morning, we’re often too tired to think. I always make sure the kids are fed and ready to go but forget myself. I make grab and go paleo breakfast cups when I remember ahead of time… but I often forget! I like having something as easy as Dannon Light & Fit and Dannon Oikos Nonfat Yogurt Drinks at my disposal. I even use it in my morning protein shakes in place of Premier Protein many mornings.
These healthy snacks are also a good idea to grab!

All I need to do is open the fridge, grab a yogurt to go and be on my way. The Dannon Light & Fit and Dannon Oikos Nonfat Yogurt Drinks are not only portable, but they are good for us. It’s a portable source of protein, has 0% fat, and is delicious on the go.
A breakfast on the go is better than none at all.
I like to freeze my yogurt drinks and pop them into a little lunch cooler. When I start to lose steam while running errands or working, I can have one on the go.
Give yourself grace
The first week of school wreaks havoc on mom’s emotions. Whether it’s your child’s first day of Kindergarten or last First Day of School, the beginning of the school marks a new beginning. Then you throw in the doctor’s appointments, piles of paperwork, and new teachers. It’s a lot. Take it one day at a time. And if you forget to sign that reading log on day 3, who cares? Your days of detention are long gone. Apologize and move on.

Do something for yourself while the kids are in school.
Take a few minutes to do something for yourself. Turn on The Office or Game of Thrones or another non-animated, adult show and relax. Enjoy a piece of chocolate. Turn music on and dance. Finally get your eyebrows waxed or a pedicure!
