I can’t believe that Halloween is in two days! I am still on the fence as to whether to wear a costume or not. I kind of want to crochet a skunk hat and DIY a skunky costume. Why would I want to do that? Who wouldn’t?!
Actually, yesterday the kids were talking about the costume parade at school last year. Pea was a scarecrow (all Kindergartners are required to be scarecrows!) and Pork Chop was a Skylander called “Stink Bomb.” Pork Chop was recalling how the sweet kids in his class year made fun of him and called him a “skunk.” He even groaned, “Why would I be a skunk. Nobody dresses up like a skunk for Halloween.”
Guess who’s Filipino mom bought her a skunk costume in the 80’s when she was in grade school? Not only was it a skunk costume, it was a cheap 80’s plastic skunk costume. The cheap plastic inseam split so I was a skunk who split her pants.
Ironically–and this does not mean I am turning into my mother–Pork Chop has dressed up like a skunk in the past and he LOVED it.
I’m the queen of last minute DIY costumes. Okay…I am the queen of last minute everything. So in the event that you are similarly afflicted, check out the fantastic last minute October crafts that were linked up to Family Fun Friday last week.
