Black Friday is infamous for shoppers running on caffeine and greed. I have no idea how people can stuff themselves on Thanksgiving and then go shopping all night…after waking up early to cook.
I woke up at an ungodly hour one year to stand in line at Game Stop for two hours, to be told that only the first PS3 was on sale for the advertised price but I should buy it at the regular price since I had already been in line for so long. Thanks but no thanks. I have Amazon Prime for that and now I hate you, Game Stop.
Recently, some friends and I were talking about our Thanksgiving Day plans and my friend Heidi mentioned how much she loves to stock up on things during the Black Friday sales. When I told her how much I hate the lines and crowds, she said that she never goes for the big ticket items that people fight each other over. She buys towels.
Brilliant
Every year I go to Target on Black Friday…much like on most other days. Only I go to Target after a good night’s sleep when all the deal hunters have passed out from exhaustion. I have never gone with a plan or thought about stocking up on household goods that are likely to be on sale.
This year, I have a plan.
Some of the items I plan to stock up on Black Friday:
Towels
I decluttered with a vengeance this month and tossed raggedy old towels when I reorganized the linen closet. I don’t need to replace all the clutter, but we do need a few nice bath sheets.
Kids Clothes
Little petite Pea was a 3T for so long. I knew it wouldn’t last forever. She is almost six after all! Both of my kids have had growth spurts since I got their back to school wardrobes in August. Hopefully I can find some sales and stock up on undies, socks, and new clothes for the two growing little weeds.
Home decorating pieces
I am doing my best to turn this house into a nice and inviting home. However, home goods can be pricey! I need new throw pillows, decorations, curtains and maybe a console table and I would like to still have money leftover to buy Christmas presents!
Small appliances
My blender broke and I really want a nice smoothie blender that will last longer than a few months. I have purchased and burnt the motor out on two Magic Bullet blenders. It is time for an upgrade but you pay for the quality with small appliances. Hopefully, I can grab one at a discount on Friday and get back in my smoothie making groove.
Office Supplies
I need an ergonomic desk chair and I always need printer ink. Maybe I will find these items on sale.
Bedding
King sized bedding is not cheap. I can probably buy a twin bed with the amount that it costs for one king bedding set. I need a new one so hopefully will find some great deals. I also don’t think that I have replaced our pillows in the last five years. Ew!
I have no desire to stress myself out trying to get the next big gift/tv/gaming console on Black Friday. But, I don’t mind going late in the day after everyone else has gone to sleep to get some of the things I have been meaning to buy on sale!
Do you go Black Friday shopping for gifts or yourself? Are there any practical items you shop for on Black Friday that I didn’t think of?

This is a great idea, I should try this. I love stocking up on things, I don’t want to fight the Black Friday crowd! Great idea!!
