If you are a regular reader then you probably know about my love affair with wipes. If you aren’t a regular reader there is a pretty good chance you got to my site by searching for DIY wipes or from Pinterest.
When my kids were little they used wipes on a daily basis. I don’t use them for dirty hineys anymore but we still use them often! Though I share many homemade wipes recipes, believe it or not, I still buy commercial wipes for on the go use. Thanks to Huggies and Walmart for inspiring me to try the new Huggies Simply Clean baby wipes.
Dirty hands and faces
There have been so many times that my kids have gotten their hands or faces dirty and there was no bathroom to be found. And, If another mom needs a baby wipe because of a mess, I’m happy to hand one off. The Huggies Simply Clean wipes are new and improved with triple clean layers and are perfect for messes. They come in cute Disney packaging. Speaking of Disney, wipes are the single most important item that you should pack in your bag for a day at the parks.
I also toss a pack into my gym bag for those times when we are on a tight schedule and I have to go straight from the gym to Publix or to soccer practice. I quickly clean up a little–ie wipe the sweat off my face and neck. (Don’t worry, after five minutes of sitting in the humidity and ninety degree temperatures, the other parents are just as sweaty and stinky as I am!)
Soccer Field
I actually keep a pack of baby wipes in the car for sporting events. The kids might have a snack or juice after practice and spill it on themselves. After a practice on a muddy field, they come in handy for cleaning their legs and shoes before they track it in the car. Baby wipes are also awesome for wiping off hot and sweaty faces after practice or a game. Dirt seems to stick to every part of their little bodies.
A must in the car
I swear that half of my coffee sloshes out of the cup every morning on the way to school. I need to do a better job of putting the cap on my travel mug! I usually grab a wipe and quickly clean it up while waiting in the drop off line. Another reason we keep baby wipes in the car is just in case someone (ahem *Pea*) gets sick, which can happen whenever we are in the car longer than 10 minutes. The TripSaver Air Freshener that I developed for her works most of the time. It helps her carsickness for sure but when her arthritis is flaring or if she has just taken an anti-inflammatory medication and I drive her around, she still gets sick.
I keep an emergency pack in the back with her. In a gallon sized zip bag I have a pack of wipes, a folded ziplock bag for her to get sick into, and then a few plastic grocery bags to throw the dirty wipes into after cleaning her up.
Around the House
Please tell me what baby wipes can’t be used for around the house. I’ve used baby wipes to get stains out of the carpet from my kids spilling something. I’ve cleaned up little boy “aiming” mishaps in the bathroom. We’ve used them for all sorts of quick clean up around the house. The options are endless when it comes to kids and cleaning up messes with baby wipes.
My kids do a better job of cleaning off their own faces when a pack of wipes is nearby. The extra step of dampening a paper towel before wiping their mouths seems to be too much trouble…
Baby wipes are like a mom’s little helper. They are there when you need them most, which is a lot for my little family. Because Kids Outgrow Diapers, Not Messes!*
