To me Family Fun Friday is a fun way to curate a round up of creative content from around the web. To my kids, the Scrugglets, Family Fun Friday is unwritten law. On Fridays, we have fun.
As I was looking at my favorites from last week’s link up, I was surprised at the variety of topics I chose. Normally, I pick seasonal themes with a heavy focus on crafting. I haven’t had time to craft lately and I miss it.
This week the pieces I chose seem so different that they can’t possibly have a connecting theme. In fact, it took me a minute to see the connection myself and I chose them. All six of my features are recent–and weird–ways my family connects.
Unless you somehow missed all my soccer mom posts, we spend a large chunk of the school year at the soccer fields. I enjoyed this post from Ashleigh at Simply Wright on the 6 types of sports moms. I’ve seen all of these moms on the field and channeled each of these personality types at one point or another.
This tongue in cheek post from Frugally Blonde of 7 of My favorite things to buy used totally fits how my sister and I spend quality time together. We go thrifting! My kids are also young enough that they LOVE to go with me because I rarely say no to a book or toy at the Goodwill price points.
My friend Kirsten of Kids are a Trip shared this list of 15 Essentials to Pack for a Blog Conference. Thanks, girl! I totally used this list this past weekend when we traveled to Atlanta for a blog conference. I am so glad I took the kids with me. They spent a fun filled day with their aunt and uncle at Centennial Park while I got to meet and learn from some great bloggers, including our linky party host, and my friend, Monica of Happy and Blessed Home. This blog is a family affair. My kids are experienced product reviewers and they enjoyed going away for “work.”
I chose Save Money on Family Food from Mums Make Lists because I spend a lot of our budget on food. We enjoy sharing meals together. When the stars align and the children are both behaving at the grocery store we have a good time shopping together.
This is probably the most unusal way we connect as a family but the most fun. Most of us have Fitbits, even my 8 year old (when it isn’t broken). We motivate each other and connect over thousands of miles with Fitbit challenges. I’m excited to share with everyone this piece from Our Adventure Story on 5 Ways to make money with your Fitbit.
My scrugglets are 6 and 8 years old. Though I have some time yet, the thought of Pea as a teenager is horrifying. This post from Pat and Candy, 5 Things you can do NOW to help prepare for the Teen Years, gives me some hope. The reason why family fun is such a priority to us is so that our children have the time they need with us to learn limits, build trust, and actively communicate.
I hope you enjoy these features as much as I did!

So glad my packing list came in handy. Wouldn’t you know I went to BloggyCon and forgot my water bottle! Grrr. At least others can benefit, right? Glad you had a great time!
