Are your kids feeling a little blue about going back to school? Who wouldn’t? Summertime is for fun and not sitting in a classroom all day long. Even though everyone is a little blue about going back to school and saying goodbye to all of the fun times, there are some ways you can get your kids excited to go back to school. This year I am getting them prepared early. The week before school started last year was hectic. I don’t want to do that again.
Here are a few tips to get your kids excited to go back to school

#1. Make Breakfast Extra Special
I don’t know if your parents every made anything extra special for breakfast when you were a kid, but it was always motivating for me to get out of bed when I smelled something delicious. Make breakfast an extra special time for your kids, so they are motivated to get out of bed and get going with their day.
#2. Make it Fun
We do back to school crafts each year. Decorate your pencil cups or let them personalize their backpacks! Pea clips small beanie babies to the zippers of her back pack. They remind her of her larger “softies” at home.
To get them excited about back to school, make it fun. Play their favorite music in the morning or send them an old fashioned paper plane note to let them know they have five minutes till you leave for drop off. If they have cell phones, then shoot a funny little text off to them to start the day off positively. To get your kids excited about something, the last thing you’ll want to do is yell and make them upset.
We don’t like hearing negative things from our “boss” 1st thing in the morning, so don’t do it to the kids! Share on X#3. School Supplies Shopping
One of the most exciting parts of back to school for kids is shopping for supplies. Let the kids be a part of this process and allow them to help as much as possible. Let them see their list and what they need for school and they can help you pick items out. Challenge them to help you find the best deals for what’s on their list. Give them the list and watch them search the back to school aisles for the things they need. It also gives some perspective on how much supplies can cost their parents.
#4. Stay Positive
Try not to push your own feelings onto your kids about school. Staying positive is truly one of the best ways your children can get excited about school. Try and say something positive each and every day about school and how great it will be this year. Kids need a positive perspective when it comes to learning and education to keep them interested and involved.
Smile! Especially if it’s the first day of kindergarten 🙂
Get your kids excited to go back to school this year by making it fun! No matter how you decide to make it fun for your kids, they will cherish these memories for many years to come. We only have our kids at home for a short period of time; why not make it a memory worth looking back on?

You are so right….we don’t like when our bosses are negative right off the bat in the morning. So, we shouldn’t be for our kids either. This is a great list. I just can’t believe we’re already seeing commercials and hearing about school returning.
