I am amazed at how early I started my Christmas shopping this year! I am obviously not a super organized be done with Christmas shopping by Thanksgiving type of girl.
This year I am making more of an effort to put more thought into the gifts I purchase.
But my family is notoriously difficult to shop for! My Dad tends to get everything he needs for himself and give us (his kids) outrageous gift requests for Christmas. In the past, he has asked for and received an expensive banjo, Magic Bullet blenders (because why keep one in a box unopened when you can have two in the box unopened?), Showtime rotisserie grill, laptop, and a stove. He never uses any of those gifts! He is a lot like his 5yo granddaughter in that respect. She begged for Twinkle Toes by Skechers. I rarely spend much money on kids shoes because they grow out of them so fast. I bought them for her and she wore them once before returning to her beloved Mary Janes. She wears croc Mary Janes or Target brand Mary Janes all the time but always wants the in shoes!
Anyway, back to my Dad. He loves karaoke but already has a very nice Karaoke system (He’s Filipino and sings country!) He also likes to garden but is spending his time doing home improvements on his waterfront dream property. He travels between there and home with his significant other several times a week. He is also a very talented guitar player so one of the gifts I am considering is musciansfriend, Traveler’s Guitar, because it is easy to transport.
My father sacrificed much raising three kids on his own. He spent years working multiple jobs because his military pay alone didn’t allow him to make ends meet on his own. As he gets older, I am happy that he has finally started to focus on himself and enjoying his life. I don’t want anything more than for him to continue to do so.
