DIY Halloween window clings: Bats

I have another easy Halloween kids craft for you guys. It’s a variation of my DIY Glow in the Dark Window Clings and is such a fun and cheap craft to do with the kids. I am so happy my friend Echo inspired me with her wax paper painting craft!

All you need is:

  • Wax paper
  • sharpie
  • Bat coloring page
  • black puffy paint (under a dollar for a little bottle)
  • paint brush (optional)

Simply place the coloring page beneath the wax paper and trace around the outline (or draw free hand if you are talented like that!)

With the pumpkin cling, I didn’t use a paint brush and it came out with lots of texture and ridges. It also used a ton of paint!

This time I used a paint brush to smooth the paint. However, this meant it took several coats to get to a thickness that I felt comfortable with pulling off of the wax paper.  I didn’t want the cling to be so thin that it ripped!

Once it was dry, I gently peeled it off.

If you tug too hard and stretch out the shape of the cling, you can easily trim it with scissors to get to the desired look!

Also, don’t be concerned if there are pieces of wax paper still stuck to the cling.  Simply lay the cling face down on regular paper and wipe the wax paper off with a damp rag or wet paper towel.

They easily stick to the window and can be re-positioned over and over again!
