I started blogging with a bang in October and saw steady growth at the Corner for several months. People were actually reading my posts! But in February, I just kind of…lost my blog mojo. I didn’t seem to have time to write and when I did, I didn’t have any clue what to write about. (All those ideas that popped in my head while in the shower swished down the drain with the bathwater.)
Then the weird thing that has been happening to me in other areas of my life, happened with my blog. I got annoyed with the lack of organization. It’s weird because for the last thirty or so years, I have reveled in my chaos and clutter. I’ve always found it easier to think with stuff all strewn about me rather than with a starkly organized work area staring at me menacingly. Lately, I’ve been getting these flashes of annoyance at the clutter and sheer disorganization that surrounds me and I have been changing. But this was the first time it happened with the blog, aka my baby. Late last year, I purchased from the always friendly and helpful, Melissa Culbertson of Blog Clarity, formerly Momcomm. I finished half of the course but since I was on a blog tide, I stopped working on it and just wrote to my heart’s content. The organization inherent in having an editorial content calendar made me feel like a redneck hunter forced to wear a business suit. (I am a Duck Dynasty addict–sorry not sorry.)
However, when the weird desire for organization happened with my blog, Content Brew was the first thing that popped into my head. I pulled out my completed coursework and returned to the self paced, online course. The beauty of this course is that you can work at your own pace and return to it any time. Just re-reading the lessons and resuming the handouts got my creative engine revved up and ready to go. I have since planned out the next few weeks of posts (which is major for me). It’s actually a few weeks and a day because this review was not originally on the calendar. However, Melissa just notified me that she is celebrating her Blogiversary by throwing a one week sale on . Save $10.00 with the code 3yearblog until Sunday April 9, 2014 at 11:59pm ! I am an affiliate of Content Brew because I believe in this course so purchasing through the links on this site let’s Melissa know that I sent you, and let’s you support my blog at no extra cost to you.
What you get with the course are nine lessons with associated videos and handouts, an excellent editorial calendar template and a tutorial on using it, and access to the Content Brew Facebook Group where you can discuss lessons with fellow students and with Melissa herself. The course helps you come up with future post ideas, titles that work, as well as plan out social media updates to increase engagement. I prefer the flexibility of the self paced course over an instructor led course. As a parent, wife, and student, sometimes my blog has to take a back burner while I focus on my family’s needs. I am glad that I can just log back in and pick up where I left off without any guilt.
I originally purchased this course because it was affordable and because many of the bloggers I respect and look up to had previously taken it and sang its praises. I know why now and am glad that I returned to the lessons. If you want to take your blog to the next level or just want to learn how to be a more effective content creator and writer then this course is for you! If you are on the fence, feel free to comment with questions, email or reach out to me via social media. I will be more than happy to answer any questions you have.

Nice I will look into it – I feel as organized as I am, I am highly disorganized and need to fine tune my process. I get very lackluster and slack off during certain periods of time. Motivation is a pain sometime! Happy Monday Herchel! -Iva

It gets us all, Iva. I am just not organized at all! I got some ideas down “on paper” so that when my motivation slacks I would have some guidelines to help me along!
