Hi, friends!
Are you a blogger or online entrepreneur that wants more traffic? (Doesn’t every blogger want that?)
I always want more pageviews, myself, but I’m not always willing to put the time into getting it. I have priorities. However, my little blog is an income source for my family.
Last year that income came primarily from sponsored posts. For much of the year, I made more than $1000.00 a month from sponsored posts–while having less than 10k page views a month.
I actually averaged under 6k page views a month. Yes, that’s right. I have never believed that you have to be “big” to make money.
I have two small children. One of them has Juvenile Arthritis, and the other has to be physically active every day or he cannot focus.
With all of that going on, I was parenting solo. My husband was deployed all last year; I simply could not dedicate the time to work on the blog full time.
This year, the hubs is finally home for good. He’s worked overseas for the better part of four years–half of our children’s lives.
And now I want to earn more money (my dream is to keep him working from home) without sacrificing the time I spend with the family.
But, I only made $100 bucks last year from ads.
So this year, increasing my ad revenue is a major goal.
Let me share my secrets with you!
That is why I turned my attention to increasing my traffic.
More page views mean:
- more ad income
- higher sponsored posts rates
- eligibility into more exclusive networks
Here are the main things I did:
Fixed all those broken links
I cohost a popular linky party called Family Fun Friday (you should link up! We go live on Thursday at 4pm Eastern). Blogs come and go and many of the blogs I have featured have closed down. It is important to fix the dead and broken links from a Google standpoint. Useless links hurt your search engine authority.
I use a plug in called–wait for it…Broken Link Checker.
Began updating old posts for SEO
I have over 400 posts. This one will take a while. I try to update the images and the keywords in three older posts a week. Most of my posts don’t have the alt text filled out on the images!
Maximized Traffic to Popular Posts
In mid-January my friends Crystal VanTassel and Kelli Miller co-wrote Skyrocket Your Pageviews using Google Analytics. I took an SEO class with them a couple of years ago so I knew that their ebook would be filled with actionable tasks. They are the duo behind #LearntoBlogHangouts and this book did not disappoint. That is why I am now an affiliate and Skyrocket Ambassador.
Their ebook is broken up into just over 30 challenges. They are quick and straightforward. I’m betting that’s why I have been able to fit them into my schedule. (I am notorious for putting off backend work.)

A typical challenge will read like so:
Open Google Analytics. From xxx tab choose xxx. Get the the top post. Complete xxx. There is no guess work! The tasks are spelled out and have immediate results.
So I am going to show you the results I’ve had with this book. These analytics are from the day the book launched (I was one of the first people to purchase it and began right away) through April 4th compared to the period prior.
I’ve had a 61% increase in traffic!
So if you are wanting to earn more money and increase your traffic, I highly recommend this book and the workbook too!
Seriously! Buy it NOW.
