The winds of change

I have some big news.  My blog name and URL are changing!

Scruggbug Corner originally started as the name of my Etsy shop.  I sold baby photography props and hand crocheted hats.  Every now and then, I do still sell them.  (If you scroll all the way down to the footer at the bottom of my blog you will see some of my listings.)

When I started blogging in April of 2013, I wasn’t sure that I would stick with it.  I tend to be very passionate about my hobbies…until a new one comes along.  So it made sense to stick with a URL that I already owned.  For those first few months, I rarely posted.

Then after the miscarriage, I found an outlet and a comfort in writing and continued to write.

My topics have evolved as my blog has evolved from a maybe-hobby to a hobby to a work from home dream job that I remain passionate about over a year later.

My blog name no longer fits what I write.  On a cursory inspection, readers who would relate to my blog would see the site’s name, assume that it was about preschool, and move on.  (This is why I am so appreciative of those of you that read beyond the blog’s name and continue to come back!)

“Scruggbug Corner” makes people think about early learning centers or preschool.  My youngest has entered kindergarten. I share crafts and activities that I can do myself for fun or with them for fun.

My kids crafts have grown with my kids.

My interests and my topics aren’t as limited now that they are both in school.

Each day I wake up, drop the kids off at school, work out, craft or write, and do housework.  One of the things that I don’t do is run a preschool.  So after much thought on my part and the name suggestion from my other half, I have decided to go through with a “re-branding.”

My posts will change very little.  The biggest difference is that I will have more fitness tips, healthy meal ideas, and be more accountable in my workouts by writing about fitness once a week.  I only have a handful of fitness posts on the blog now because I did not think they fit well with “Scruggbug Corner.”  (I had a separate blog called “Active Fit Moms” but one blog is quite a bit of work…two is just not feasible for me at this time.  Just like in real life, when the going got tough and I got busier, I tossed the workouts and the fitness blog out the window!)

But as I found with my Horrible Housewife series, you guys are awesome and help me stay motivated when I share my goals with you.  So I am going to do the same with my exercise goals.  I have to stay in shape because I have to stay one step ahead my kids.

 

How I got the new name:

Me: I want to change my blog name to something that fits my life more since that’s pretty much what I write about.

Hubs: Oh you mean, “Gym. Craft. Laundry.”

So thank you, Hubs, for summing up my days so perfectly 🙂

I will be changing the name on November 1st!  Next week will re-start my normal programming with an update on my decluttering, my move from home workouts to joining a gym, popsicle recipes and of course some new crafts!
