Ive shared my tips on fun things to do on Castaway Cay but now I’m sharing my reasons to skip Castaway Cay day. This is Disney’s private island and is full of activities, adventure, and plenty of fun in the sun! While this is a great day to flock to the island, you may also want to consider staying on board for a portion of the day. If you are on a longer cruise with more than one Castaway Cay day, then even better! With the crowd at the island, now would be the perfect time to take advantage of on board amenities. 7 Reasons to skip Castaway Cay and Stay Onboard
While we had a great time on the island, I do wish we had skipped one of the island days to stay onboard. My kids are not fans of sand or of a multitude of other kids throwing the aforementioned sand. I, myself, actually got to read instead of listen to the audio version of a book for the first time in years. It was heavenly. So here are some of the reasons I totally think you should consider for going the island fun.
Short lines for the Aquaduck
You may remember that one of my epic Disney Cruise fails had to do with the Aquaduck. I was afraid my daughter would hate it and the lines were always sooo long that we kept putting it off. Then we tried it and we ALL loved it!
You might find yourself waiting in line for Aquaduck a good 20-30 minutes, but on Castaway Cay day there are virtually no lines. If you are dying to try out this waterslide, now is the time. Enjoy little to no waiting and ride as much as you want. I so wish I had thought of this before the end of our Disney Cruise!
Smaller crowds at the pools and splash pads in general
Pools on the ship can be crowded, but on Castaway Cay day they are bare. Now is the time to head out and relax on the deck and enjoy some quiet. You will also get a nice selection of chairs to relax on and less shuffling for space.
Your Choice of Spa Services
Castaway Cay Day leaves open tons of spa slots, so now is the time to get that facial or massage in. You will find that very few people book appointments on these days, so now is the time to slip in and find some relaxation.
Open basketball and sports courts
If you are ready to get a game of one on one in or want to check out the virtual golf experience, now is the time. With everyone on Castaway Cay, you will be able to take advantage of the sporty experiences offered on board.
Small Dining Crowds
If you are ready for some laid back dining, now is the time. You will find the eateries less crowded at this time so if you are ready for a break, head to the eateries on Castaway Cay Day. You’ll find a great selection of food and be able to enjoy it at a slow pace.
Lots of Available Sun Deck Seating
If you have been waiting for some quiet time to sunbathe or explore the decks of the ship, Castaway Cay Day is perfect. With smaller crowds and less commotion, now is the perfect time to put on the sunscreen and go out for a stroll.
Good Day to Enjoy Quick Room Service
Castaway Cay Day is a great day to stay in bed and order breakfast. With so many people on the island, you can enjoy quick room service and enjoy the morning at a slower pace. Doesn’t that sound like a great way to wake up on vacation?
