Do you have children who love to tell jokes? Mine do. They rarely remember the exact words so end up saying something nonsensical and end up laughing uproariously anyway. That’s why I like to buy kids jokes book to read with them.
Oh, you don’t believe me? Well here is one of their favorite and often told jokes:
Knock knock
who’s there?
banana
knock knock
who’s there?
banana
knock knock
who’s there?
banana chewing on the eyeballs.
Cue uproarious child laughter while I just stare…cue harder child laughter.
They even enjoy competitive funny joke competitions. The rule is simple. Whoever makes the judge laugh harder, wins. Since the funniest person is normally the one that says the joke in the funniest voice or with the funniest facial expression, the oddest of kids jokes end up being the winner.
I love it.
Joke Books are fun for the whole family
I love sitting on the floor with the scrugglets listening to their laughter as they try to out funny each other. Each giggle and surprise snort–normally from girly little Pea–fills my heart with peace. Despite the stress of every day living, of pent up frenetic boy energy, and unexpected arthritis flares; my children are happy. They tell jokes and act out funny scenes. They chase each other and draw funny pictures. They are children and they don’t have a care in the world.
Being able to spend so much time laughing with them, was the greatest gift this summer.
Laughter is the shortest distance between two people. ~Victor Borge Tweet

So I urge you to think about what kinds of jokes your kids might like! You never know when a good joke may come in handy. I once stopped an epic tantrum at Target with a simple joke. “What do you call a fish missing an eye?…A fshhhhh of course!”
