Do you have a child with sensitive skin, eczema, or allergies? I do.
My youngest has eczema, allergies to dog and cat dander, dairy, peanuts, an antibiotic or two, and the pollen from several Florida trees. It’s great fun, let me tell you. For both her and I.
Oh yeah–that’s in addition to her Juvenile Arthritis, which tends to flare if she has an allergic reaction.
The skin issues are horrible. I know because my own allergies (which are fewer than hers) pop up as hives like hers sometimes do. I’ve had many instances of head-to-toe hives. That’s great fun too.
At home, it’s an issue that is prevented (mostly) by our daily routine and laundry process. We don’t use fabric softener on any laundry that touches her skin. Instead, I make and use wool dryer balls.
I also use all® free clear liquid detergent or free clear mighty pacs® on her laundry.
However, there are times when our home laundry routine is interrupted. Like, during vacation.
Laundry Tips for Traveling With a Skin Sensitive Child
As a parent, I’ve become very familiar with hotel laundry facilities! My son breathes and dirt appears on his clothing and my dainty daughter has epic bouts of motion sickness.
Pre-treat soiled clothes with a little bit of all® free clear liquid detergent
You can pour a little bit of detergent and water into a travel spray bottle for flights!
Bring a few easy to pack all® free clear mighty pacs® in a plastic container.
Whether you have plans to do laundry while on vacation or not, I’ve found that bringing a few mighty packs® just in case is always a good idea.
Pack them in a small plastic container so they don’t get squished.
If you need to do laundry while away, you’ll already have the #1 detergent recommended by Dermatologists, Allergists, and Pediatricians for Sensitive Skin with you. It removes Removes 99% of everyday and seasonal allergens, including cat and dog dander, dust mite matter, ragweed, grass, and tree pollen. (Which is perfect for Pea!)
Pack outfits in individual gallon sized zip top bags
Not only does this make it easy to find outfits, soiled laundry (and the allergens on the clothes) can be packed back into the bags for later laundering. After a day at the theme parks etc, I have the kids immediately change when we return to our hotel room. The allergens stay trapped in the bag instead of being tracked around the room.
