Dad aka Grandpa: Eat the peas (*note the peas are swimming around logs of SPAM in a sea of tomato sauce—i know you are think hmmmmm yummy!) Your mommy used to eat them all the time when she was little.
Me: No, I didnt. I hate peas.
Dad: Yes, you did. I used to make them all the time.
Me: You remember those red Tupperware cups we used to have? Me and Kay used to spit the peas into our drinks.
Dad: What?!
Me: You never washed the dishes when we were little, did you?
Dad (turning to the Scrugglets): Eat them, they are good for you.
Scrugglet #1: I need to go potty.
Dad: Ok, go.
Me: Sometimes, we did that too.
Dad: What?
Me: We’d put them in our mouths and spit them out in the toilet. What!? They are nasty and you wouldn’t let us leave the table until they were done. Mom’s the one that never told you.
Dad: (under his breath) mumble mumble stupid, stupid, mumble….(he doesn’t have any idea how much he does his quiet “stupid mumble mumble.” I wonder if he does it at work. )
Side note: I searched every where for a picture of those old school red Tupperware 12 oz tumblers that we used to have. Found only one photo and guess what? They are “vintage” because apparently I was a kid in the olden days. They probably had BPA and other three letter abbreviations of evil in them and that’s probably why I am the way I am. Don’t worry they are now vintage and should not be used as drinking cups or pea collection cups. I love those cups.
I did find a listing for them on etsy. I might even buy them so my kids can have something to spit their peas into. Or someone can buy it for me because Christmas is around the corner.
