Today is the last day my kids will be in school before holiday break starts so I decided to do something I have never done in the past. This is a year of firsts. First I started to actively work on my organization ability. Then I even started to Christmas shop earlier than I ever have. Yesterday I inventoried and wrapped the gifts while the kids were in school.
This is huge. I may even get to sleep on Christmas Eve this year.
Luckily I was able to catch the gift imbalance. Shopping for my Elsa addicted daughter was easy so I picked up gifts here and there for her. Her pile was a wee bit larger than my son, who got a few pricier toys (because Legos aren’t cheap, folks.)
So now I am on the hunt to find small gifts for him so that they have an equal number of gifts. At this age, they don’t understand that some gifts are way more expensive than others. They are only five and seven after all.
I am 37 years old and my sister 35. To this day, we still talk about and resent how our parents used to buy more gifts for our little brother, the only boy, every Christmas.
It’s a good thing that I am still scouring Amazon for toy deals.

Do you keep the toys number balanced for your gifts?
I did a quick check last week and found some things I had forgotten I bought. I usually try to keep the number of gifts even, but this year I’m not going to worry about it as much. The older two don’t believe anymore, so I;m not going to break my neck trying to make sure Santa is fair.
