Recently I received two boxes of cereal from General Mills to try out with my kids. They were so excited when I opened the package and showed them what was inside!
You see, the Hubs and I may have been a little enthusiastic sharing our love for all things Star Wars with our little Imperial spawn. We’ve brought them to at least two Star Wars weekends at Disney. During Pea’s first Star Wars weekend, Chewbacca nearly scared her out of her stroller. I’ve even shared tips on getting into the Jedi Training Academy.
Little known fact: when the Hubs and I were young newly married gamers playing SWG (an online Star Wars rpg), we actually got married in the game. Not only are we an interracial couple in real life, we were an interspecies couple online. I was a twi’lek and he was a wookiee. The couple that nerds together….
Since he first learned to walk, Pork Chop’s been using The Force to open the doors at our local Target. In fact, on a Target trip a month or so ago, he used The Force to open the doors. (He is now seven years old.) Pea, a year younger, says, “You know that you can’t use The Force, right? The door moves whenever anyone is there.”
Pork Chop erupted with, “Mommy, is that true?!”
So naturally, I said, “Stop fighting, you two. Nobody is allowed to talk until you can get along.” 😉 It was cute when he opened the doors for people as a toddler and I still think it is cute now.
I shouldn’t have been surprised to find one box completely empty and the other one almost empty when I went to take photos of the kids eating their cereal the next day. It’s summer vacation and they work up appetites when swimming.
When I asked the kids if they liked the cereal, Pea said that she liked both of them but the Darth Vader cereal was much better!
Pork Chop preferred the Yoda cereal.
I didn’t have the heart to tell them that it was the same cereal in two different box styles. Besides, I already knew that the Dark Side of The Force was stronger in my daughter. I was surprised that Pork Chop chose to support the rebel scum but Yoda is pretty cool, guess I.
The cereal comes in three shapes:
- A Tie Fighter
- X-wing
- The Millenium Falcom
My kids’ favorite part are the marshmallow pieces:
- Lightsabers
- Jedi Fighters
- Storm Troopers
- Yoda
- R2D2
Now through July, General Mills will be releasing new boxes in pairs. Use this coupon to try it yourself!
Do you love Star Wars too? Check out the great photos on Tumblr!
We enjoyed the cereal so much that we will give one lucky winner $10 USD in paypal cash to try it themselves if they choose! Good luck. The giveaway is open Worldwide and will end on 7/8/15 at midnight! Which side of The Force are you on?

Ha! The cereal is icing on the cake. We’ve watched the movies together, gone to Star Wars parades, and built Lego Star Wars ships together. Even my little girly girl loves Star Wars!
