The best foam brushes I have come across

I've been doing some bathroom remodeling lately and have come across and used a few different types of foam brushes. These are by far the best of the bunch. The issue w/ the others is that they are flimsy and don't hold firm when you're laying whatever you're laying (e.g. paint, stain, etc.). These brushes are much firmer and are much more likely to serve their purpose multiple times if you choose to rewash and use again. Either way, I will only use these when I have a need for foam brushes.

For the money and the quantity you cant ask for much. They are really nice cause you just throw them away after each use at this price. Problem I had with them were the sticks were breaking off when using them with higher viscosity liquids. Also don't use these on un-sanded wood, it will tear the foam apart in an instant. Not very durable foam head. But at this price what can you ask for.

Pefect one time use sponges. My husband and I used them to stain and seal wood steps and furniture. I prefer using sponges like this since they don't leave any lint and create an even coat. Great deal, much better price than purchasing them at a craft store.

The handles do sometimes come off as others have stated, but that didn't matter for our use since we could use the sponges without the handle for the job we were doing. It was comparable quality to what we had purchased previously at craft stores.

Too expensive at any price. The sponge head is connected to the wooden dowel handle by tiny little nub of plastic. This plastic will EASILY snap off in use. In painting the detail molding on just one side of one door, I had to go through three brushes because the sponge head kept snapping off. Believe me, I'm not being rough with them in the slightest. I was even more gentle after the first brush snapped apart. These are just that bad. They just can't withstand even the slightest back & forth brush stroke for more than a few passes before the head pops off and goes tumbling (with paint!) onto the floor.

Frustrated, and without alternative brushes, I decided to finish the door with the fourth brush by holding the sponge directly with my bare hands. Just a sloppy mess. And that's when I learned the sponge will start to crumble soon after the head would normally snap off. Good grief! Tiny little bits of sponge spread all over the place, embedded in paint. What a disaster to pick them out before the paint starts to set!

While these aren't very expensive, their real cost is due to the fact that they don't work and are likely to ruin you project. These might perhaps be suitable for very small jobs - or possibly for children to apply watercolors (at school!!). I would not recommend that kids use these at home due to the obvious problems caused by paint-laden sponge heads tumbling across tables and onto floors.

*the tiny nub holding the foam to the handle breaks (and I'm trying to be gentle on them so that this doesn't happen)
*or the plastic nub comes out of the handle
*or the foam comes loose from the plastic holding it to the handle (if they somehow don't break from the first two problems)

Gets the job done for the right price

I don't really do a lot of painting so I don't have much experience to base my review off of. I bought these primarily to apply varnish to a snowboard (Jones Flagship if you must know) and they got the job done perfectly. I used each one only once to apply a coat and then discarded them. Others who used varnish on various surfaces all recommended fairly expensive brushes but as far as I can tell, the end product with these was identical, AND I didn't have to wash any brushes. I saw some reviews that mentioned the head coming off so maybe people were trying to re-use each one multiple times.

Varnish is pretty sensitive to bubbles/hair/dust but the end product appears completely smooth and shiny. I would definitely recommend these for small projects -- can't comment on larger projects.

Great disposable brushes. I buy these and the 2" brushes by the hundred due to their incredible price to apply oil based polyeurethane finishes to furniture, as the oil based poly tends to weigh down, gunk up, and generally destroy brushes. They apply it smoothly and evenly, though they will form bubbles and ruin the finish IF you use them to stir the poly, however that is with all foam brushes and not only these.

After they're weighed down with heavy finishing liquids, the brush portion tends to separate from the core once it is dried.

In conclusion, perfect disposable brushes for applying oil based finishes.
